Mr. Richard Piwowarski, a leader and educator with a deep dedication to Catholic education, joined Resurrection College Prep High School as Principal in July 2016 . Mr. Piwowarski served as the Principal of Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana where he previously served as the Assistant Principal. Prior to his appointments at Andrean High School he was on staff at Marist High School in Illinois for nine years, during which time he served as a Spanish Teacher, Coordinator of Instruction, and Coordinator of School Accreditation.
Richard Piwowarski is a graduate of Marist High School, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature and Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and Supervision from Saint Xavier University is currently completing his doctoral dissertation for a Ph.D. in Catholic Educational and Leadership Policy Studies from the Catholic University of America.
Mr. Piwowarski strongly believes that the role of leadership is to model a vibrant faith life, a commitment to service and collaboration with faculty, students and parents. He believes that the vocation of a Catholic educator is to guide students to find out who God calls them to be and that Catholic education is a vehicle by which lives can be transformed. Richard Piwowarski is married to Dr. Ashley Kuhl Piwowarski, alumna of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School. As a product and strong advocate of single gender Catholic education, Mr. Piwowarski is committed to "supporting an educational environment that gives young women a sense of empowerment, courage and confidence and prepares them to take their rightful place in building a better world."
