ScholarshipsResurrection understands the importance of making high school affordable for its students their parents. That is why we offer dozens of scholarships and other tuition assistance in order to make our excellent education affordable for everyone.
The following scholarships are presently available for our current students:
The Resurrection College Prep Top 10 ScholarshipThe Resurrection College Prep Top 10 Scholarship awards $1000 to the ten students that score the highest on the Entrance Exam at Resurrection. The $1000 is awarded for the student’s freshman year at Resurrection. The scholarship will be presented at the student’s 8th grade award presentation or graduation by a representative of Resurrection College Prep High School.
Alumnae ScholarshipThe Alumnae Scholarship is presented by the Resurrection College Prep High School Alumnae Association to recognize alumnae heritage. Any student whose mother, grandmother(s), aunt(s) or sister(s) are Resurrection alumnae are eligible to apply for one of the four $1000 scholarships. Recipients will be based on alumnae heritage, financial need and good academic standing. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Stefanie Thorpe at 773.775.6616 Ext 127. Blessed Celine and Mother Hedwig ScholarshipThe Blessed Celine and Mother Hedwig Scholarship was established by the Sisters of the Resurrection in support of the mission of Resurrection College Prep High School. The Sisters of the Resurrection are proud to provide this endowed scholarship in memory of their foundresses, Blessed Celine and Mother Hedwig. Three scholarships are awarded each year; one each in the values of $1,500, $1,000, and $500.

Burchard ScholarshipThe Burchard Scholarship is a $500 scholarship established in honor of Grace and Ellen Burchard by Patricia DiBenedetto ’43. The Burchard Scholarship helps fulfill the promise Patricia made to follow in the charitable footsteps of her grandmother.

Charlotte Lennon Memorial Scholarship
The Charlotte Lennon Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Charlotte Lennon ’78 who died in a car accident at the age of 21. This $1,000 scholarship was established by Charlotte’s family so they could help young women further their education.

Development ScholarshipThe Development Scholarship was established to recognize students who contribute to the advancement of Resurrection College Prep High School through participation in, or support of, development/recruitment activities and/or volunteering in the Development Office; model Christian behavior in interaction with members of the Resurrection College Prep High School community; demonstrate dedication to Resurrection through strong academics and participation in extra-curricular activities. Four $1,000 scholarships are awarded to one student from each grade level based on faculty/staff recommendation. PSAS not required. (No application is required.)
Dr. Carrie Hall Jaworski Leadership ScholarshipThe Dr. Carrie Hall Jaworski Scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Carrie Hall Jaworski ’88 to recognize a current freshman, sophomore or junior student who shares her leadership abilities with the community. Dr. Jaworski is the Head Team Physician and Director of Intercollegiate Sports Medicine at Northwestern University, where she also serves as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Prior to taking this position, Dr. Jaworski established the Sports Medicine Center at Resurrection Medical Center, where she often hosted Resurrection students during their Health Careers Practicum. She also served as the school’s volunteer team physician. She believes the leadership opportunities Resurrection College Prep High School provided to her as a young woman were instrumental in her future successes. For that reason, she wants to help other young women reach their leadership potential with this $500 scholarship.

Eugenia Norlock Scholarship
The Eugenia Norlock Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship established by Dr. Frances Norlock ’83 and her husband Peter Lisnic in honor of Dr. Norlock’s mother Eugenia Norlock. The scholarship is awarded to a student who is interested in becoming a physician. Applicants must:

Heart of Chicago ScholarshipThe Heart of Chicago Scholarship is established by a Resurrection College Prep High School alumna to recognize the many families of Resurrection students who are employees of the City of Chicago. Five $2000 scholarships were awarded for the 2011-12 school year. Applicants must:

Jessica Martin ScholarshipThe Jessica Martin Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Jessica Martin, a graduate of Resurrection College Prep High School’s Class of 2001. Jessica was a Sociology student at St. Norbert College in DePere, WI when she died suddenly of a medical condition. Jessica touched the hearts of many and is truly missed by her family and many friends. The Jessica Martin Scholarship is a $1,000 award that was established by an anonymous donor to honor the life and joy Jessica shared with the world.

Marie Costello ScholarshipThe Marie Costello Scholarship is a $500 award established in honor of Marie Costello. Marie was a nurse and appointed by Cardinal Stritch to organize the Cook/Lake County Chapter of the Council of Catholic Nurses of the Archdiocese of Chicago. She was also the first President of the Council. In addition to her Council work, Marie simultaneously taught at DePaul University, took care of her parents and acted as a mentor to other nurses. She was constantly reminded of her mother’s words, “God gave you these gifts that you may give to others so keep on doing it!”

Marie Costello Scholarship Application Matys-Rakoczy ScholarshipThe Matys-Rakoczy Scholarship was established in honor and loving memory of Chester and Estelle Matys and Joseph and Henrietta Rakoczy. Marie Matys Rakoczy ’71 and her husband Joseph fund this scholarship to honor their parents who valued education and knew that it could make a great difference in the lives of their children. This scholarship for 10% of the current tuition acknowledges a student who believes attending Resurrection College Prep High School is making a vital difference in her life and ability for future success.

Nediljka Lisnic ScholarshipThe Nediljka Lisnic Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship established by Dr. Frances Norlock ’83 and her husband Peter Lisnic in honor of Mr. Lisnic’s mother Nediljka Lisnic. The scholarship is awarded to a student who plans on taking four years of a world language and is planning on majoring or minoring in a world language in college.

Parents Club Scholarship The Parents Club Scholarship is a $1,000 award that was established by the Resurrection College Prep High School Parents Club as a means of financial support for parents who are experiencing financial hardship due to special circumstances. Priority will be given to those students who have not received additional tuition assistance or scholarships. Application available in the fall.

The Sr. Georgine Marie Faith Witness ScholarshipThe Sr. Georgine Marie Faith Witness Scholarship is presented annually by the Religious Studies Department at Resurrection College Prep High School in memory of former Resurrection Campus Minister, Sr. Georgine Marie. Two scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to current junior students who practice faith, leadership and service in the likeness of Sr. Georgine Marie. Recipients are nominated by the Religious Studies Department and nominees are required to complete an application and essay. PSAS not required.
The Sr. Gregory Resurrection Medical Center Staff ScholarshipThe Sr. Gregory Resurrection Medical Center Staff Scholarship awards one full-ride scholarship covering the cost of tuition and fees and is awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need, receives no grade below a B and preferably has an interest in a health related career. This scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis and applications will only be available if the prior recipient becomes ineligible. Recipients are selected by the Resurrection Medical Staff based on recommendation by the Resurrection College Prep High School Development Office. (No application is required but a PSAS form must be completed to be eligible.)
Sr. Stephanie Corporate Board ScholarshipThe Sr. Stephanie Corporate Board Scholarship is a $500 scholarship that was established through the generosity of the Resurrection College Prep High School Corporate Board to acknowledge an incoming freshman student who expresses a sincere desire to attend Resurrection College Prep High School and share her leadership abilities with the community. Aurelia Smigielska-Wright ScholarshipThe Aurelia Smigielska-Wright Scholarship was established in loving memory of Aurelia Smigielska-Wright, by her husband, William Wright and her daughter, Joan Wright Boyd ’73. The $1000 scholarship is presented annually to a current Resurrection College Prep High School student.

Christine Olender ScholarshipThis scholarship is in memory of Christine Olender, a graduate of Resurrection College Prep High School’s class of 1980, who was the assistant general manager at the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center, where she had worked from 1996 to 2001. Christine was one of the countless victims lost in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Christine attended her 20-year class reunion in November 2000, after which her classmates described her warmth, friendliness, and the genuine interest she showed in their lives. With that in mind, members of the graduating class of 1980 initiated a scholarship fund in Christine’s name. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of Christine’s family, friends and fellow Resurrection alumnae, those initial contributions have grown into an endowed scholarship fund, which provides for a $1000 scholarship each year.

Dr. Chris Kelly Student Mentor ScholarshipThe Dr. Chris Kelly Student Mentor Scholarship is in memory of Dr. Chris Kelly, Resurrection College Prep High School Class of ’59 – Wife, Mother, Teacher and Mentor. While raising three children, Dr. Kelly taught Mathematics at Resurrection College Prep High School spanning a 30-year period. In addition to this, she was a member of the Resurrection College Prep High School Board, Resurrection Hospital Board of Directors and an advisor to several Catholic elementary school boards. Her commitment to mentoring led her to create the Practicum Program at Resurrection College Prep High School. From 1998 to 2008, she served as a Professor of Education at Dominican University, teaching and mentoring high school and elementary school teachers who were preparing to become principals. She was a firm believer in mentoring students and teachers. This $2,000 scholarship is to promote and continue her legacy through mentoring.

Elaine Zold-Koepke Fine Arts ScholarshipThe Elaine Zold-Koepke Fine Arts Scholarship was established by Elaine Zold Koepke, a Resurrection College Prep High School graduate from the Class of 1941, in honor of her love of the arts and especially dance. Mrs. Koepke taught dance to the grade school students at Res during her junior and senior year to help pay for her educational expenses. Sr. M. Dolores, the Principal of Resurrection, offered her this opportunity to share her talent with the younger students. The Elaine Zold-Koepke Scholarship is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded on an annual basis to an incoming freshman or current freshman, sophomore or junior student who finds a passion in the arts (music, dance, drama, art). Preference will be given to students involved in dance or Orchesis, but all fine art students are encouraged to apply. Mrs. Koepke sees this scholarship as a way of repaying the Sisters of the Resurrection, specifically, Sr. M. Dolores, for providing her with the opportunities to achieve her goals.

Fahey ScholarshipThe Fahey Scholarship was established by Mary Matheis ’66 and her husband, Gerald Fahey. The $500 scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need, and maintains a C or above in each class. Both the student and their parent(s) must be active volunteers at Resurrection College Prep High School. Recipients are selected by the Resurrection Medical Staff based on recommendation by the Resurrection College Prep High School Development Office. No application is required.
Florence and Johanna ScholarshipThe Florence and Johanna Scholarship was established in support of the mission of Resurrection College Prep High School, and is funded by an an anonymous friend of the school to honor family members. Three $2,500 scholarships are awarded each year and applicants are invited to apply based on criteria established by the donor. (Students meeting the criteria will be invited to apply.)
Knudsen Family Band ScholarshipThe Knudsen Family Band Scholarship was established by Jon and Anne-Judine Knudsen in honor of their daughters, Mary Frances ’04 and Kirsten ’06. Mary and Kirsten were both four year band members during their time at Resurrection and both young women earned the distinction of drum majorette. The Knudsen family appreciates the level of commitment and discipline required by the band members as they collaborate with their individual talents to create beautiful music together. This $500 scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis to an incoming freshman who expresses a desire to be part of the Notre Dame/Resurrection College Prep High School Band and dedicate herself to improving her talents and sharing them with the community.

Mark Teach ScholarshipThe Mark Teach Scholarship was named for the son of Gordon and Mary Teach. Gordon Teach was a friend of the Sisters of the Resurrection for over 35 years, beginning when he first served as trustee for Resurrection Health Care. Highly impressed with the various functions that he attended at Resurrection College Prep High School over the years, he felt inspired to help with the Sisters’ mission of educating young women by establishing a scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship is awarded in honor of his son Mark, who died in infancy. (Application available in September).

Mary Guerrieri Bertolini ScholarshipThe Mary Guerrieri Bertolini Scholarship awards two $1,000 scholarships dedicated to the memory of Mary Guerrieri Bertolini, a graduate of Resurrection High School Class of 1978. Mary, at the age of 45, died in 2005 after a valiant and courageous nineteen month battle with ovarian cancer. Mary faced every difficult situation with a positive attitude of grace and courage whether it was her learning disability, a debilitating disease, or helping others through the challenges in their lives. The Mary Guerrieri Bertolini Scholarship was established by Mary’s family in memory of the remarkable woman she was: her magnanimous personality, her strength, her wonderful sense of humor, spirit of volunteerism, her determination, and her love of life.

Nicole Brunke ScholarshipThe Nicole Brunke Scholarship is in memory of Nicole, a graduate of Resurrection College Prep High School’s Class of 1989. At a young age, Nicole dedicated her life to caring for other people and found her calling to become a nurse. She began volunteering at Resurrection Hospital as a candy striper when she was only 12 years old, and advanced to a position as nursing assistant when she turned 16. She especially loved working on the pediatrics floor spending time with the children. Nicole graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1992 and became a Registered Nurse. Unfortunately, Nicole’s life was cut short when she was involved in a fatal automobile accident in 1998. In honor of Nicole, the Brunke family has established an endowed scholarship fund which awards a $1,500 scholarship annually. (Please note: The scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis, based upon continued fulfillment of the recipient’s eligibility requirements. Based on that criteria, applications may not be available each year.)

Pay It Forward ScholarshipThe Pay It Forward Scholarship was established in honor of Arthur J. Slack (CPD, CFD) and George D. Slack (CPD) and their service to the City of Chicago. It is funded through the generosity of Nancy Slack Stachnik ‘67 and members of the Slack Family. Two scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $1,000 – one to the daughter of an active-duty Chicago firefighter or paramedic and one to the daughter of an active-duty Chicago police officer.

The Sr. Mary Monica Hope ScholarshipThe Sr. Mary Monica Hope Scholarship is in memory of former teacher and Principal, Sr. Mary Monica Widelski, C.R. In her memory, the school has rededicated the Hope Scholarship as the Sister Mary Monica Hope Scholarship to provide financial assistance to Resurrection families in need. Each year, more and more families are in need of financial assistance in order to provide their daughters with the Resurrection College Prep High School experience. The number and amount of scholarships vary based on available funds and student need.

Susan Fyda ScholarshipThe Susan Fyda Scholarship was established in memory of Susan Fyda ’66 through a bequest she made to Resurrection College Prep High School. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year.

Stegmeier ScholarshipThe Dorothy Stegmeier Scholarship is a $500 award that was established by the Raithel family (Mary ’73 and Kathleen ’06) in memory of their mother and grandmother, Dorothy Leverenz Stegmeier.

Tony Mazzulla ScholarshipThe Tony Mazzulla Scholarship was established in memory of Tony Mazzulla, a teacher at Resurrection College Prep High School for nearly 30 years. Mr. Mazzulla inspired thousands of students to pursue continuing education and careers in History, International Business or Political Science. In that spirit, a $1,000 Tony Mazzulla Scholarship is awarded annually to a current Resurrection College Prep High School junior or senior who is planning to pursue a degree in Political Science, History, International Relations, or International Business in college. Weber Alumni ScholarshipThe Weber High School Alumni Scholarship was established by the Alumni of Weber High School and funded through their Annual Golf Outing and Annual Reunion Banquet. This scholarship is awarded to a student(s) whose father, grandfather, uncle or brother is a graduate of Weber High School and has established financial need by completing a PSAS Financial Aid form. If no such student applies, the award will be given solely based on financial need. The number and dollar amount of the scholarships awarded is based on the annual donation from the Weber Alumni Association each year.

The Families with Special Needs ScholarshipThis scholarship was established by Dr. Maureen Mascha '73. The scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman, current freshmen, sophomore, or junior who has a sibling who has a mental or physical disability that signficantly detracts from family income.
