Scholarship Information

The following scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen students who are enrolled at Resurrection High School for the following year.  All scholarships are awarded towards freshman year tuition.  PSAS forms must be completed to be eligible for these scholarships, unless otherwise noted.   Applications will be available in the main office.
 
The Sr. Stephanie Blaszczynski CR Corporate Board Scholarship - One scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded to an incoming freshman student who demonstrates financial need and exhibits leadership in her school, parish or community.
 
The Knudsen Family Band Scholarship - One scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded to an incoming freshman student who shows a desire to participate in the Resurrection/Notre Dame High School Band.
 
The Pay It Forward Scholarship -  Two scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1000 to incoming freshmen who demonstrate a need and have a parent who is an active-duty Chicago firefighter or Chicago police officer.
 
The following scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen students or current freshmen, sophomore or junior students who are enrolled at Resurrection High School for the following year.  Applications will be available during registration.
 
The Sophie and Edward Grabarczyk Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded to an incoming freshman or current freshman, sophomore or junior who demonstrates financial need and is involved in service in her parish, school or community.
 
The Sr. Monica Hope Scholarship – Eight annual scholarships; four in the amount of $1,500 each and four in the amount of $750 each awarded to an incoming freshman and to a current freshman, junior and senior for the following school year.  The recipient students will demonstrate financial need, maintain at least a C average, and must be able to articulate how a Catholic single-gender education is important to their future. Preference will be given to students of immigrant parents who are the first in their family to have the opportunity to attend college.  Other students, not meeting this preference are still encouraged to apply.
 

The Elaine Zold-Koepke Scholarship

 – One scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded to an incoming freshman or current freshman, sophomore or junior student who finds a passion in the arts (music, dance, drama, art).  Preference will be given to students involved in dance or Orchesis, but all fine art students are encouraged to apply.

 
The Aurelia Smigielska-Wright Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 awarded to an incoming freshman or current freshman, sophomore, junior or senior who demonstrates financial need and  is a part of the Resurrection Strategies for Academic Success Program or has a parent who is physically challenged or chronically ill.
 

The following scholarships are awarded only to current students in good standing at Resurrection High School and enrolled with Resurrection High School for the following year. Applications will be available in the Main Office in March (unless otherwise noted).

 
Alumnae Scholarship – Four scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to students with alumnae heritage who demonstrate financial need, maintain a good GPA and demonstrate involvement/leadership in their community or school. PSAS recommended but not required. (Winter application and essay required.)
 
The Nicole Brunke Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1,500 awarded to a current student who demonstrates financial need and has current or recent volunteer experience in a health care facility or organization.  The student must also have an interest in pursuing a health-related career. This scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis and applications will only be available if the prior recipient becomes ineligible.
 
The Blessed Celine and Mother Hedwig Scholarship – Three scholarships in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000 and $500 awarded to current students who demonstrate financial need and are involved in leadership roles in the school, parish and/or community.
 
Development Committee Scholarship – Four $1,000 scholarships awarded to one student from each grade level who contributes to the advancement of Resurrection High School through participation in, or support of, development/recruitment activities and/or volunteering in the Development Office;  model Christian behavior in interaction with members of the Resurrection High School community; demonstrate dedication to Resurrection through strong academics and participation in extra-curricular activities. Senior award is for continuing education.  These scholarships are awarded based on faculty/staff recommendation. PSAS not required. (No application is required.)
 
The Mary Matheis ’66 and Gerald Fahey Scholarship - One scholarship in the amount of $500 awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need, maintains a C or above in each class and who will spend one free period each week helping in the Development Office.
 
The Florence and Johanna Scholarship – Three scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each awarded to a current freshman, sophomore and junior student who demonstrates financial need and maintains a B average or better.  Recipients are selected by the donors based on recommendation by the RHS Office of Institutional Advancement.  (No application is required but a PSAS form must be completed to be eligible.)
 
The Susan Fyda ’66 Scholarship - One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 awarded to a current freshman, sophomore or junior student who demonstrates financial need and is in good standing with the school.
 
The Sr. Georgine Marie Faith - Witness Scholarship Two scholarships of varying amounts awarded to current junior students who practice faith, leadership and service in the likeness of Sr. Georgine Marie.  Recipients are nominated by the Religion Department and nominees are required to complete an application and essay.  PSAS not required.
 
The Sr. Gregory Resurrection Medical Center Staff Scholarship – One full ride scholarship covering the cost of tuition and fees is awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need, receives no grade below a B and preferably has an interest in a health related career. This scholarship is renewable on a yearly basis and applications will only be available if the prior recipient becomes ineligible.  Recipients are selected by the Resurrection Medical Staff based on recommendation by the RHS Office of Institutional Advancement.  (No application is required but a PSAS form must be completed to be eligible.)
 
The Mary Guerrieri Bertolini Scholarship - Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 awarded to current students who demonstrate financial need and have overcome or are facing a challenging situation in their lives with grace, courage, and a sense of humor.
 
The Charlotte Lennon Memorial Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 awarded to a freshman, sophomore or junior student who demonstrates financial need and is involved in sports.
 
The Jessica Martin Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 awarded to a current junior who demonstrates financial need; maintains a C average or better; is involved in at least one extra-curricular activity or service activity in the school, parish or community; and who is responsible, friendly, has a love of life and maintains a positive attitude.
 
The Matys-Rakoczy Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of one-tenth tuition awarded to a current student who demonstrates financial need and who believes attending Resurrection High School is making a vital difference in her life and ability for future success.
 
The Tony Mazzulla Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1000 awarded each year in the amount of $1000 to a current junior or senior student planning a college major in Political Science, History, International Relations or International Business in college. (Application available in fall 2010)
 
The Christine Olender Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and one scholarship in the amount $500 awarded to current students who demonstrate financial need and have an interest and involvement in the Fine Arts. Preference will be given to students of Polish descent, but all are invited to apply.
 
The Mark Teach Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $2,000 awarded to a current student who demonstrates financial need and has current or recent volunteer/work experience at Resurrection Medical Center.  The student must also have an interest in pursuing a health-related career. (Application available in fall 2010).
 
Heart of Chicago 2010-2011: The Heart of Chicago Scholarship was established by a Resurrection High School alumna to recognize the many families of Resurrection students who are employees of the City of Chicago.
 
Heart of Chicago 2009-2010: The Heart of Chicago Scholarship Application for the 2009-10 School Year is now available online as well as in the main entrance of school.  The Heart of Chicago Scholarship was established by a Resurrection High School alumna to recognize the many families of Resurrection students who are employees of the City of Chicago.  Applicants for the 2009-10 scholarship must be a current freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior in good standing, have a parent who is presently an active employee of the City of Chicago, have completed the 2009 PSAS form and demonstrate financial need.   Applications are due back to the main office no later than March 30, 2010.
 
The Dr. Chris Kelly Student Mentor Scholarship – One scholarship in the amount of $2,000 awarded to a current freshman, sophomore or junior who demonstrates financial need and is a student tutor or mentor.
 
Weber High Alumni Association Scholarship – Number and value of scholarships vary from year to year.  Recipients must demonstrate financial need and have a grandfather, father, uncle or brother who graduated from Weber High School.
 
The Burchard Scholarship – One $500 scholarship awarded to a student who is involved in athletics either at school or in the community.
 
The Marie Costello Nursing Scholarship- One $500 scholarship awarded to a current student who exhibits a desire to attain a career in nursing.  The student must currently be working or volunteering in a healthcare related environment.
 
Dr. Carrie Hall Jaworski Leadership Scholarship – One $500 scholarship awarded to a student who exhibits leadership through her parish, school, volunteer efforts, scouts or other activities.
