Click on the links below to take you to the Res subscription databases. You will need usernames and passwords which are available from the Res Library.

 
Britannica Online School Edition is the complete Encyclopedia Britannica, as well as links to journal articles and websites. Start searching here to get basic information about people, places, things, and concepts. Look on the right-side for links to journal articles and pre-selected web sites. Includes teacher resources.

CQ Researcher provides in-depth coverage of political and social issues, with regular reports on topics in health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the U.S. economy. Great for researching controversial moral and social issues.
 
Current Issues in Health offers specially selected resources on health topics.  You can use the Search Box or drill down through a particular topic.  Search results can be full-text or just the article citation.
 

Current Issues : Reference Shelf Plus  is a database of full-text articles from key publications covering a variety of current social, scientific, health, political, and global issues.  The editor-selected resources are designed to provide a well-rounded overview of the topic.

EBSCO Science Reference Center provides access to a variety of science resources, from reference books to peer-reviewed journal articles.
 
FACTS.com Issues & Controversies is a great resource for controversial issues as well as tracking current events. There are quick links to Issues in the Headlines on the right side of the main page and don’t miss the Tools for Students section to help you with your assignments.
 
FACTS.com Today’s Science is useful for science-related research as well as controversial topics related to science, medicine, and technology.  There’s also a science encyclopedia and a good introduction to doing a Science Fair project under Tools for Students.
 
First Search is an extensive resource provided by the State of Illinois. It contains 14 databases and includes access to thousands of journals, many full-text. Includes ECO, ERIC, MEDLINE, WilsonSelectPlus, WorldCat, as well as many others.  To search journals, you need to choose a database.  Click on "List all Databases" and choose up to three, or click on "Suggest a Database" and select a subject area from the drop down menu and choose up to three. Full text availability is denoted by a tiny yellow notepaper on the far right.  To search for books in other libraries, scroll down to the second drop down menu and select WorldCat.
 
GALE Literature Resource Center  The LRC contains Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, Dictionary of Literary Biography, Merriam Webster's Encyclopedia of Literature, Scribner’s Writers Series, and Twayne's Authors Series. Includes biographies and critical analyses of authors from every age and discipline.  You can also link to the Gale Literary Index to help you find articles in Gale’s many print volumes.

Greenwood Daily Life Online  combines content from the “Daily Life Through History” and “World Cultures Today” databases.  It provides access to material from hundreds of Greenwood’s print titles and includes primary documents, maps, timelines, and folk tales and fairy tales from around the world.  This database is a rich source of historical background that can also be connected to contemporary society.  It is especially strong in social history.

Readers’ Guide Full Text Select  is a 100% full-text database containing comprehensive indexing, abstracting, and full text of the most popular general-interest periodicals published in the United States and Canada.
