NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding 105 scholarships throughout the state to Illinois resident students enrolled in an Illinois school full time during the 2010-11.  Applications are available at www.idsheriff.org or there are copies available in the guidance office.  The deadline is April 12, 2010 (postmarked).

Registration fees are due for AP classes is due TODAY!  Please bring the registration forms and fees to Mrs. Pugliani in guidance

Seniors:  Your next prom payment of $50 is due to your seminar teacher by Friday, March 19, 2010.  Total cost of prom is $200.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Moreth (103) or Ms. Salerno (112). 

IT IS EASY TO BE GREEN!!!!!!!!  Join the Science Cub and Go Green Club in supporting endangered animals by purchasing a T-Shirt through your seminar teacher this week.  The price of the shirt is only $10.00.  Your ten dollars will go a long way.  First it will get you an out of uniform day on Earth Day, April 22.  You must have purchased a t-shirt in order to qualify for this out of uniform day and the t-shirt must be worn that day along with other appropriate dress down clothing.  Second, proceeds from the t-shirt will go to support endangered animals; see the flyers in your seminar classrooms.   Thirdly you will feel good that you made a difference on Earth Day 2010.  IT IS EASY TO BE GREEN:  Grab an order form from your seminar teacher, fill it out, put your name on it and return it to your seminar teacher, Ms. Becker in room 201 or Mrs. Konow in room 216 with your $10.00.  All orders must be placed by March 17th.  No late orders will be accepted.  Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to GO and Make a Difference!!

The Kiwanis Club of Park Ridge is sponsoring $3000.00 in scholarships for gradating h.s. seniors that are residents of Park Ridge. Applications and criteria are available at prkiwanis.parkridge.il.us/ or come to guidance for copies. The application deadline is April 2, 2010.

Juniors Exploring Engineering at Purdue is a free daylong event for h.s. juniors on Monday, April 12 from 8:00-a.m.-4:00 p.m. For further details and online registration go to www.purdue.edu/wiep.  (Of course, you would have to get permission for the day off.)

DeVry University is offering a FREE ACT WORKSHOP class for Math and Science on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Chicago Campus. Registration deadline is March 19th. Please contact Karin Kushino to register at 773.697.2002 or kkushino#devry.edu.

Science Club:  You may pick up applications for next year’s officers outside Ms. Becker’s room in 201.  Be sure to have the application returned by March 26th.  We still have Science Club t-shirts for sale if any member would like to purchase one.  See Ms. Becker in 201. 

Library Club:  you can pick up applications for next year’s club officers in the library.  Please return them to Ms. Roy or Ms. Gilbert by March 26th. 

Library club sweatshirts have arrived.  Please come to the library, with your money, to pick up your sweatshirt. 

Applications for scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year are available on the display rack outside the gym as well as available online.  All scholarship applications are due back by Tuesday, March 30th. 

We have a new scholarship opportunity at Res.  The Heart of Chicago Scholarship is offering 5 - $2,000 scholarships for the current school year.  To qualify, you must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in good standing and have a parent who is presently an active employee of the City of Chicago.  Applications for the 2009-10 Heart of Chicago Scholarship are available in the main office.  Applications are due back by March 30th. 

The Chicago Fire Department’s Gold Badge Society is offering a couple of scholarships to qualifying children of active, disabled, retired or deceased firefighters or paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department.  Deadline date is March 31, 2010.  Come to the Guidance Office for details. 

A $500 Scholarship will be awarded to a senior in high school based on volunteer community service, especially to those residing in the village of Norridge or Ridgewood High School District.  Come to guidance for a copy of the application.  The deadline is March 19, 2010. 

Dr. Chris Gartner of Gartner Orthodontics is offering his 18th annual Scholarship Contest to his active and former patients who are college bound high school seniors.  There will be two $1,000 scholarships given.  Copies of applications are available in the guidance office, or you may download from www.gartnerortho.com, or pick one up at Dr. Gartner’s office.  The deadline is April 22, 2010.

The Illinois Elks Children’s Care Program is offering students enrolled in a physical or occupational therapy program a scholarship plan.  Applications are available online at iea-ccc.info, or come to guidance for a copy.  Deadline is March 12, 2010. 

 “Dividends for Life” essay contest is being offered by the Catholic New World and is open to Catholic high school seniors.  The winners will be awarded from $300 up to $1,000 in scholarship money.  Flyers are posted outside and inside the café or come to the guidance office for details.  Deadline is May 1, 2010. 

The Kevin Dowling Scholarship Fund is now available to students entering college that have a learning disability.  Come to the Guidance Office if you are interested for an application.  The deadline should be postmarked no later than March 21, 2010. 

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is pleased to announce the 2010 Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Program to exemplary high school junior student athletes.  Come to the guidance office for an application or apply online at www.positivecoach.org/scholarship/application.aspx.  Applications are accepted from January 1 through May 1, 2010. 

JOANN Fabrics and Craft stores is sponsoring an “Own Your Look Prom Contest 2010”.  This is an opportunity to receive cash and prizes of up to $50,000.  Entrants must make their own prom outfit, including an accessory with fabric and other products from Jo-Ann.  Details of the contest are available at www.joann.com/prom.  The contest begins January 10 and ends June 14, 2010. 

The 20th Century Club Foundation of Park Ridge is again awarding scholarships to residents of Park Ridge graduating in 2010.  If you are interested come to the guidance office for an application.  Deadline is April 1, 2010. 

State Senator Dan Kotowski’s 33rd District State Scholarship application is due April 9, 2010.  Stop by the guidance office for more details and/or an application
