Ava Evrard Chosen to Represent Resurrection at HOBY Leadership Seminar

Sophomore Ava Evrard has been selected to represent Resurrection College Prep as a HOBY Ambassador, earning the opportunity to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership summer retreat in 2026. Ava was nominated by the school for this honor, which recognizes students who demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to growth.

When Ava learned she had been chosen, she described feeling both excited and proud. “I was extremely excited to hear I was selected for this opportunity, and pretty surprised I got in, but I was also really proud of myself,” she shared.

At Resurrection, Ava leads in a thoughtful and steady way. She often takes the lead on group projects and helps organize events among her peers. She describes her leadership style as quiet but intentional, making sure everyone is included and supported so the work gets done well. This approach has already helped her make an impact in the school community.

One meaningful leadership moment for Ava came during the De La Salle Scholar Ceremony, where she was invited to open the program alongside the principal. As the second speaker of the ceremony, she read the opening statement and helped set the tone for the event. Ava shared that the experience was both an honor and a chance to make a difference through her enthusiasm and presence.

Looking ahead to the HOBY retreat, Ava hopes to gain a stronger understanding of her leadership skills along with greater confidence, especially in public speaking. She plans to bring those skills back to Resurrection by stepping into more leadership and speaking opportunities and by fostering a deeper understanding and connection with those around her.

What excites her most about the experience is the opportunity to meet students from across the state and build new relationships. Ava is looking forward to making connections she may not have had the chance to make otherwise.

The HOBY Leadership Seminar brings together high school students from around the country for a transformative leadership experience focused on service, integrity, and personal growth. More information about the program can be found at hoby.org.

Resurrection is proud to have Ava represent the school and looks forward to seeing how she continues to grow as a leader and inspire others in the Bandit community.
