Building for a Purpose: Women in Engineering Students Support Go Baby Go Event

Resurrection College Prep students from the Women in Engineering Club spent the weekend putting their skills to work alongside students from Saint Patrick High School’s CTE Manufacturing, Engineering, Technology & Trades Pathway during a Go Baby Go event focused on service, collaboration, and impact.

The event, held in partnership with the Illinois Spina Bifida Association, brought students together to retrofit and customize mobility cars for children with spina bifida and other limited mobility diagnoses. Working side by side, Resurrection and Saint Patrick students adjusted controls, seating, and supports to ensure each car met the specific needs of the child it was built for.

For the women of Resurrection’s Women in Engineering Club, the experience offered hands on engineering practice in a real world setting while highlighting the power of collaboration. The students jumped right in, problem solving, troubleshooting, and learning from one another as they worked with Saint Patrick’s engineering students throughout the morning.

Beyond the technical skills, the day served as a powerful reminder of how engineering can directly improve lives. Each completed car represented increased independence, joy, and opportunity for a child and their family.

Resurrection is proud of our Women in Engineering Club members for their leadership, teamwork, and commitment to using their talents to serve others. Experiences like Go Baby Go show our students that engineering is not just about building projects, but about making a meaningful difference one ride at a time.
