Peggy Kusinski ’81 Delivers 2025 Commencement Address with RES Pride and Purpose

Resurrection College Prep was proud to welcome home Peggy Kusinski (Kinander), Class of 1981, as the 2025 Commencement Speaker — a moment that brought her inspiring journey full circle.

Known for her powerful voice and pioneering spirit in Chicago sports media, Peggy has spent decades breaking barriers and telling impactful stories. With more than 25 years at NBC 5 Chicago and now a host on ESPN 1000, she has earned 12 Emmy Awards and built a legacy as one of the most respected women in sports broadcasting.

During her commencement address, Peggy reflected on her time at Resurrection — from the speech and drama club to the volleyball and basketball teams — and how RES gave her the space and support to grow into her full, authentic self. She spoke with warmth and humor, sharing stories of resilience, hard work, and the confidence she gained during her high school years.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements and continued leadership, Resurrection presented Peggy with the Alumna Leadership Award. Her ongoing work, including her podcast The Sportscaster and Her Son, exemplifies the mission of Resurrection: to empower young women to lead lives of faith, courage, leadership, charity, and truth.

Peggy’s return to RES was not only a celebration of her success but a powerful reminder to the Class of 2025 of what’s possible when you believe in yourself and never stop imagining more.
