Resurrection College Prep Prepares for 5th Annual STREAM Symposium

Resurrection College Prep is preparing to host its 5th Annual STREAM Symposium, a celebration of academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary discovery. Set to take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the Symposium provides students the opportunity to present their research and app designs to an invited audience of family and friends.

Hosted by Resurrection’s pioneering STREAM Program, the Symposium highlights the powerful intersection of Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math. Since its launch in 2019, STREAM has reflected the school’s commitment to forming young women who think critically, solve problems ethically, and approach innovation through a Catholic worldview. More than a STEM model, STREAM challenges students to consider both scientific impact and moral responsibility in their work.

The Symposium represents the culmination of months of inquiry, experimentation, data analysis, and design thinking. This year’s projects tackle pressing real-world issues, from public health and environmental science to artificial intelligence and wellness technology.

STREAM I Independent Research Highlights

How has social media affected adolescents' mental health in America, from 2010–2025?
Elizabeth Hernandez & Hailey Birt

This research project examines the correlation between increased social media use and adolescent mental health outcomes. By analyzing national data trends before and after the COVID-19 pandemic, the students identified patterns linking rising screen time to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and emotional instability among teens. Their work explores how age, independence, and digital exposure influence mental well-being, offering insight into one of today’s most urgent cultural conversations.

How does potassium nitrate and ammonium phosphate in water affect the reproduction of Lemna minor?
Gabrielle Cisneroz & Sophia Green
This environmental science investigation explores how fertilizer runoff impacts aquatic ecosystems. By testing varying concentrations of nitrates and phosphates on Lemna minor (duckweed), the students examined how nutrient pollution affects plant reproduction and waterway health. Their findings demonstrate how excess agricultural runoff can disrupt ecosystems and contribute to environmental decline, underscoring the importance of responsible environmental stewardship.

STREAM II App Design Highlights

Do. It. Now.
Ari Alcazar & Natalie Mallo
y
Designed to make productivity engaging and motivating, Do. It. Now. turns daily responsibilities into a gamified experience. Users create customized task lists, earn weekly rewards, and level up by staying consistent. With interactive features and a customizable mascot, the app transforms time management into an encouraging and goal-driven experience.

Symptom Central
Haley Blomstrand & Siobhán Nee

Symptom Central empowers users to track symptoms, habits, and wellness patterns in preparation for medical appointments. By organizing important health data in one accessible place, the app helps users identify trends and communicate more effectively with healthcare providers, promoting proactive, informed health decisions.

Now in its fifth year, the STREAM Symposium continues to demonstrate how interdisciplinary education prepares students not only for college and careers, but for thoughtful leadership in a complex world. Each project reflects intellectual curiosity, persistence, and a desire to improve the communities around them.

As Resurrection College Prep prepares to welcome invited guests, the 5th Annual STREAM Symposium stands as a testament to the school’s dedication to innovation, ethical inquiry, and empowering young women to shape the future.
