Bandits Celebrate Memorable Inaugural Flag Football Season
Resurrection College Prep proudly marks the conclusion of an outstanding inaugural Flag Football season for the Bandits. The journey commenced with high hopes and ended with remarkable achievements.
The Bandits finished their season this past weekend at Halas Hall in Chicago Private League Championship. They won their play-in game against Amos Alonzo Stagg High School with a score of 22-0, which placed them in the elite eight in the Illinois State Playoffs. They had a great defensive attack led by Carolyn Bomely with 11 tackles and 2 interceptions. The offense played strong as well. Offensive leaders were Grace Escamilla with 119 yards passing, mostly to Nina Boyd who had 102 receiving yards, and Sophia Spanos with 52 rushing yards.
In the second game, the Bandits were shutout by the reigning state champs, Willowbrook High School. Although there were a few highlights from the offense and defense, Resurrection was unable to put together a win to move on.
Even with this loss, the players still had a great first season, and are looking to the future. Overall the team finished the season with a ranking of 152 in the nation, and many of the players had a top ten ranking in the state of Illinois.
The Bandits can look back on their first season with pride and determination, using their experiences as stepping stones for future success. This season has set a strong foundation for Resurrection College Prep's Flag Football program, and the future holds promise for even greater accomplishments. Congratulations to the Bandits on a memorable inaugural season!
