Resurrection Adds Flag Football to the Athletic Program

Resurrection College Prep is expanding its Bandit athletic program by adding girls' Flag Football. The new Chicago private high school league for girls Flag Football will commence in the fall of the 2023-24 school year. Several schools have already committed to participating in the league, including Christ the King Jesuit College Prep, Intrinsic Downtown, Chicago Hope Academy, CICS Bucktown, and Walther Christian Academy.

The regular season will consist of eight games, followed by playoffs and a chance to compete for a state championship against other Illinois leagues. All Resurrection students are eligible to try out for the team. To provide interested students with an opportunity to enhance their skills, a Flag Football camp will be hosted during the week of June 19th. The camp fee is $75, and Resurrection students can sign up on the school's website.

Tryouts for the Flag Football season will take place on August 10th and 11th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Full details about the tryouts can be found under the athletics section of the school's website. The team will be coached by Mr. Josh Weichart and Mr. David Hoffman, who currently coach track & field and basketball at Resurrection.

Thanks to a generous $2,500 grant from the Chicago Bears Community Cares, the school will be able to purchase uniforms and equipment for the Flag Football team. The league name is still pending, and other local private high schools have until June to commit to participating in the league. Keep an eye out for more updates and details over the summer. #GOBANDITS
