From Ambassadors to Leaders: RES Students Shine at HOBY Leadership Seminar

This summer, Resurrection College Prep was proudly represented at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Illinois Leadership Seminar held at Loyola University Chicago.

Rising seniors Paola Espinosa and Hazel Liban returned to HOBY in a new role, serving as Junior Staff leaders after attending the seminar as ambassadors last summer. Throughout the weekend, they helped guide sophomore participants through team-building challenges, leadership activities, and discussions designed to develop confidence, collaboration, and service-minded leadership.

HOBY's mission is to inspire and develop young people through leadership, service, and innovation, helping students discover their strengths and make a positive impact in their schools and communities. The organization reaches thousands of students each year through leadership seminars across the country.

As Junior Staff members, Paola and Hazel played an important role in creating a positive and engaging experience for participants. Their leadership helped foster the energy, enthusiasm, and sense of community that make HOBY such a transformative experience for young leaders. Junior Staff members serve as mentors and role models while helping facilitate activities and support seminar operations throughout the weekend.

Resurrection also had two rising juniors, Aubrey Pulido and Ava Evrard, attend this year's seminar as HOBY ambassadors. As ambassadors, they joined students from across Illinois in leadership workshops, team activities, and discussions focused on personal growth, community engagement, and making a difference through service.

The experience reflects Resurrection's commitment to developing young women as leaders who serve others and make meaningful contributions to their communities. We are proud of Paola, Hazel, Aubrey, and Ava for representing Resurrection College Prep and embracing opportunities to grow as leaders.
