Introducing Mr. Alex Funk: The New Leader of Our Theatre Department

Resurrection College Prep is delighted to welcome Mr. Alex Funk as the newest member of our faculty. Stepping into the role of Theatre Department leader, Alex brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the performing arts. Over the past few weeks, he has been immersing himself in our school community and embracing his role with enthusiasm, building on the strong foundation established by Mrs. Bohlander.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Alex is an accomplished actor, director, and teacher with over a decade of theatre education experience. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and a Master of Fine Arts from Kent State University. His professional journey has taken him to several renowned institutions, including Weathervane Playhouse, Ohio Shakespeare Festival, Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, Twilight Theatre, and Rubber City Theatre.

Alex’s directing portfolio is as impressive as it is diverse, featuring productions such as Once on This Island, Mary Poppins, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Wiz, The Tempest, and The Importance of Being Earnest. As an actor, he has taken on iconic roles, including Hamlet in Hamlet, Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing.

With his extensive background, Alex is eager to inspire our students and nurture their talents. His dedication to fostering creativity and collaboration will enhance the legacy of excellence in Resurrection’s theatre program.
