Resurrection College Prep Appoints Dr. Marcella Laws as STREAM Director
Resurrection College Prep proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Marcella Laws as the new STREAM Director, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a fervent passion for education to the role.
Dr. Laws holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Florida A&M University and has a diverse background that includes working as a pharmacist and mentoring students in various programs. Her interest in teaching was sparked by these mentoring experiences, leading her to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching at Lewis University in 2021. She has since taught science in Chicago Public Schools and has been recognized by Northwestern University as a FUSE grant recipient and facilitator.
As the new STREAM Director, Dr. Laws will spearhead efforts to expand students' networking opportunities with professionals in the fields of science and engineering. This year, she will be teaching STREAM I and STREAM II classes, while Mr. Hawker will take on AP Seminar and STREAM III. Dr. Laws is also set to collaborate with external organizations and universities to bring more STEM opportunities to Resurrection students.
Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Laws is actively involved in scientific research, constantly expanding her expertise. Her commitment to both teaching and research highlights her dedication to academic excellence and student success. In her personal life, Dr. Laws enjoys spending quality time with her husband of seventeen years and their three sons.
