Resurrection College Prep Introduces Plans for New Performance Lab

This summer, Resurrection College Prep is advancing the future of Bandit Athletics with the development of the Resurrection Performance Lab, a modern, multi-sport training and simulation space designed to support student-athlete growth, wellness, injury prevention, skill development, and long-term performance.

Designed to complement the student-athlete experience, the Performance Lab brings together innovative technology, sports medicine, and coach education to help athletes train with purpose while building healthy habits that last a lifetime.

The new Performance Lab will feature:

  • Flexible turf and movement training areas
  • A HitTrax-enabled softball development lane
  • Golf simulator technology
  • Portable putting green and chipping equipment
  • Video review and real-time performance feedback
  • Movement preparation and recovery space
  • Coach education and athlete development programming

A key component of the project is Resurrection's new partnership with HitTrax, giving softball student-athletes access to advanced technology that supports hitting, pitching, catching, video analysis, and performance tracking. The system will allow athletes and coaches to monitor progress over time while celebrating growth and development throughout the year.

The Performance Lab will also be enhanced through an ongoing partnership with Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI). Working alongside Resurrection coaches, IBJI will use movement screenings, biometric data, performance testing, and sport-specific information from technologies like HitTrax and the golf simulator to identify opportunities for athletic development and injury prevention.

As part of this collaboration, Resurrection and IBJI will establish objective performance standards to help student-athletes better understand their development over time. Performance testing may include speed and agility assessments, lower-body power, movement screenings, and other key performance indicators that create baseline data, establish annual growth goals, and support long-term four-year athletic development. This approach allows coaches and student-athletes to move beyond general training and focus on specific, measurable areas for improvement.

Rather than simply measuring performance, this collaborative approach helps student-athletes improve strength, mobility, stability, coordination, recovery, and overall movement quality, building healthier, more confident athletes both in season and beyond.

The Performance Lab is one part of Resurrection's growing Bandit Athlete Development System, a comprehensive approach that combines coaching, performance training, sports medicine, technology, leadership development, wellness, and character formation.

The initiative will be implemented over multiple years. Year one will focus on volleyball, basketball, flag football, and softball, with plans to expand the program to all Resurrection athletic teams during year two. This phased approach allows coaches and student-athletes to fully integrate the technology, training methods, and performance data into each program before expanding schoolwide.

The system will also introduce a standardized Bandit Athletic Warm-Up, providing every athletic program with a consistent foundation for movement quality, strength, balance, and injury prevention. By creating a shared approach across teams, student-athletes will develop sound movement habits while entering practices and competitions better prepared to perform at their best.

Resurrection Athletics also continues its partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, reinforcing a culture centered on leadership, teamwork, resilience, and positive competition.

"The Resurrection Performance Lab reflects our commitment to providing students with opportunities to grow both on and off the field," said Dr. Rick Piwowarski, President of Resurrection College Prep. "By combining innovative resources with our Catholic, Lasallian mission, we are preparing young women not only to compete at a high level, but to lead with confidence, resilience, and character throughout their lives."

Rooted in Resurrection's Catholic, Lasallian mission, the Resurrection Performance Lab is more than a new training space; it is an investment in the whole student-athlete. By combining innovative technology, expert partnerships, and mission-driven coaching, Resurrection continues to create opportunities that prepare young women to excel in athletics, academics, and life.

Additional details about the Resurrection Performance Lab, its innovative partnerships, and the new space will be shared in the coming weeks as the project continues to take shape.
