Heart Month Spotlight: Resurrection Alumnae Reconnect Through Their Work at Lurie Children’s Hospital

Connections made at Resurrection College Prep often last a lifetime, and sometimes those connections come full circle in unexpected ways. More than 10 years after graduating, Claire Moriarty ’13, Robin (Norwood) Weddick ’11, and Alissa Bedtke ’12 have reconnected through their work at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where they dedicate their careers to serving children and families affected by congenital heart disease, the most common birth defect, impacting approximately 1 in 100 babies born.

Their paths have intertwined in meaningful ways:

Claire Moriarty is a registered nurse in pediatric cardiology critical care, serving as a CRRT specialist, clinical excellence mentor, and safety coach, bringing her expertise and leadership to the bedside.

Robin Weddick works as a fetal cardiac nurse coordinator for the fetal cardiology program, and she is also a certified nurse leader, guiding families through the challenges of prenatal cardiac diagnoses.

Alissa Bedtke is a registered dietitian in pediatric cardiology critical care, and she is a certified lactation counselor, ensuring that patients receive the nutritional care they need to thrive.

Together, they form a team united by compassion, skill, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of children facing cardiac challenges. Their reunion through their work is a testament to the lasting bonds formed at Resurrection and the impact our alumnae continue to have in their communities.

This February, during Heart Month, we celebrate Claire, Robin, Alissa, and all the healthcare professionals working tirelessly to care for children with congenital heart disease. Their dedication reminds us that the lessons learned at Resurrection, compassion, resilience, and service, follow our Bandits wherever life takes them.
