September 11th Remembarence

On Friday, September 10th, we remembered the lives lost during the September 11th Terrorist Attacks especially Resurrection alumna, Christine Olender '80 who was killed in the North Tower. We paused for a moment of silence at the moments list below, and gave our students a brief explanation of what occurred at that time. In our history classes, students

  • 8:46 AM: Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower 
  • 9:03 AM: Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower
  • 9:37AM: Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon
  • 9:59AM: The South tower collapsed
  • 10:03AM: Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, PA 
  • 10:28AM: The North Tower collapsed  
  • 1:40PM: A brief moment of silence for all first responders and service men and women
  • 2:55PM: A moment of silence for all those affected by the tragic events on 9/11 

We also laid flowers on the bench Christine's family had placed at Resurrection in her memory, and places candles in our chapel around the names of all of the souls lost on September 11th. CBS News Chicago and WGN News Chicago covered Christine's legacy and her lasting impact at Resurrection.
