Varsity Basketball Makes IHSA History, Abby Acierno Reaches 1,000 Career Points

Resurrection College Prep’s Varsity Basketball team knocked down 18 three-pointers in a single game, a performance that has now been officially confirmed by the IHSA as tied for the 12th most three-pointers made in a single game in IHSA girls basketball history.

Tuesday night against Amundsen was one for the record books — literally.

Resurrection College Prep’s Varsity Basketball team knocked down 18 three-pointers in a single game, a performance that has now been officially confirmed by the IHSA as tied for the 12th most three-pointers made in a single game in IHSA girls basketball history. With that achievement, the Bandits have earned a place in the state record book.

Out of the thousands of games played across Illinois, this team now holds one of the top single-game three-point performances of all time, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects their preparation, confidence, and teamwork.

As if making state history wasn’t enough, the night included another major milestone.

During the same game, junior Abby Acierno scored her 1,000th career point, becoming the latest Bandit to reach this elite mark. Scoring 1,000 points at the high school level is a testament to consistency, dedication, and leadership on the court. Abby’s achievement highlights not only her talent, but also the hard work she has put into her game throughout her career.

The Bandits now turn their focus to postseason play and will host Ridgewood in the IHSA Regional Semi Final game next Tuesday, February 17, at 6:00 p.m. on their home court. We invite the Resurrection community to pack the gym and support the team as they continue their regional run.

Congratulations to our players and coaches on an incredible accomplishment!
