Attendance Policies During COVID-19
Report On-Campus or Remote Learning Absences
Parents & guardians - if your student is going to be absent from on-campus or from remote learning, be sure to notify the Resurrection Attendance Office at 773.467.4618 or resattendance@reshs.org. Please indicate if your daughter’s absence is due COVID-19 symptoms.
COVID-19-Related Absences
In determining exclusion from school due to Covid exposure or illness, the Illinois Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Interim Exclusion Guidance for Schools will be followed. Students will be expected to resume their cohort’s on-campus/remote learning cycle once they have quarantined the specified time and met the criteria for their status as outlined on the IDPH’s chart, IDPH Exclusion Guide.
It is necessary for parents to contact the Dean of Students when their daughters have COVID-19 symptoms or when they have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 or who is considered a probable COVID-19 case.
Students who must remain off-campus due to Covid related issues, will be temporarily moved to Cohort C and expected to learn remotely for all classes, unless their health does not permit them to complete school work.
Additionally, students who have returned from a state on the Chicago Emergency Travel Order list will be required to quarantine for 14 days. Therefore, parents are cautioned to avoid travel to these states. More information can be found at Chicago Emergency Travel Order.
On-Campus and Remote Learning Attendance
On the days that a student’s cohort is learning on campus, she must be physically present in the classroom to be considered in attendance. Students may learn remotely only when their cohort is scheduled to learn remotely or on Black Days when all students are learning remotely.
Specific to Remote Learners
Students studying remotely with their cohort or on Black Days must be logged into the class’ Zoom session at the time the class is scheduled to begin. Students who arrive to a class’ Zoom session more than five minutes late will not be admitted to the virtual classroom as their tardiness disrupts teaching and learning. These absences will be considered unexcused unless a parent contacts the Dean of Students within 24 hours of the absence, who will determine if the student’s absence is considered excused. Resurrection College Prep understands that attending classes remotely can present unforeseen challenges. If a student experiences technical difficulty due to Wi-Fi/connectivity issues, she is to immediately email her teacher. The student’s parent is to email the Dean of Students, Ms. Bernardin (tbernardin@reshs.org) regarding the connectivity issue. Students who establish a pattern of absences due to connectivity or home technology issues may be required to attend on-campus e-learning on their cohort’s remote learning days to ensure a consistent ability to attend classes.
Regular Attendance Policy
Resurrection College Prep maintains academic rigor through the physical presence of students in the classroom. Instructional time is the foundation of the educational program. Failure to attend school means lost opportunities to learn.
Resurrection College Prep expects students to be in attendance for all classes each school day. All aspects of the school day, such as Masses, prayer services, retreats, and all-school assemblies are important and are considered part of the educational program. A cooperative effort by the student, parent/guardian and school personnel ensures that a student maintains regular attendance.
The State of Illinois considers a student excessively absent when absences exceed five percent of the school year. Resurrection College Prep records period by period attendance and considers a student excessively absent when she exceeds 5 absences in any class per semester, with the exception of period 7. Absences in excess of 7 for a period 7 class each semester is considered excessive.
