Spring 2021 Post-Easter Re-Entry Plan
The post-Easter re-entry plan was sent out on March 26, 2021. Our primary goal is to return as many students as safely as possible to full in-person learning. We did our best to incorporate the feedback from the families and faculty members coupled with the revised guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Student re-entry will be staggered over four weeks with all other students following their assigned cohort’s schedule in terms of on-campus or remote learning days. The staggered re-entry will be as follows:
Seniors: Monday, April 19
Freshmen: Monday, April 26
Sophomores: Monday, May 3
Juniors: Monday, May 10

For example, the week of April 19, all seniors will attend in addition to the other levels who attend with their cohort. Read the complete guidance below.

Parents & guardians - if your student is going to be absent from on-campus or from remote learning, be sure to notify the Resurrection Attendance Office at 773.467.4618. Please indicate if your daughter’s absence is due COVID-19 symptoms.

Info to ensure students are present for each day of learning
Students have been doing an excellent job attending school on their cohort’s on-campus days, as well as the days they are attending classes remotely. Among the top reasons students have missed classes while learning remotely are locating Zoom links, schedule confusion or connectivity issues. To help with this, students were provided with the following information:

· Schoology is the way teachers communicate with students about what is happening in class each time it meets. Students will manage their learning well if they review the materials thoroughly on each of their classes’ Schoology pages.

· Students will have a smoother day of learning if they review the day’s bell schedule and locate Zoom links that teachers have posted the night before. We suggest that students attending remotely set alarms on their phones so that they do not miss the times that they are to attend Zoom sessions.

· All teachers -- unless the teacher is not present and there is a sub -- will have Zoom sessions that students must attend on their cohort’s remote learning days and on Black Days.

· Also on the Schoology page, a teacher who has a sub will put a link to a Google form for students to complete. Completion of this Google form records students’ attendance. Immediate completion of this form is required.

What parents can do to help their students:

· Call the Attendance Office (773.467.4618) to report a day of absence by 9 am. Messages can be left at this office extension 24/7 if it is more convenient to call the day before.

· Contact the Attendance Office the day before a student will require a late arrival or early dismissal. Provide the student’s name, grade level and times of arrival and/or departure.

· If a student is reported absent for on-campus learning because she is ill, she should not attend classes remotely. If a student is ill, she needs time to rest and recover so that she is able to attend her next day of on-campus classes. This does not apply to students who are quarantined.

· Students who are attending remotely must be on time and in the Zoom waiting room when the class begins. Students who are late by more than five minutes cannot be admitted once the teacher has moved into teaching the lesson. Admitting late students disrupts the teaching and learning.

· Students who are having technology issues are to immediately email their teacher and copy Mr. Lascon or Mr. Czernik and Ms. Bernardin.

· If a student is late or absent from a remote-learning class, her parent can verify the absence by calling the Attendance Office. Please indicate if wi-fi issues or technology impacted your daughter in joining the class.

Hey, you all are doing amazing things. And that is a challenge when you have lots of questions running through your minds. Truly, you have a lot to wonder about. And right now, answers to those questions do not come quickly.

But there is one thing you can count on each day. One thing that is a sure thing.

Res is here for you.

Your education is continuing and so many options exist for you to make the most of learning via Schoology, Zoom, Loom, and other platforms your teachers use.

Your continued learning is the focus right now. And staying connected with your teachers and classmates is an important part of learning. Remember these points to keep your connection to your teachers and classmates strong:

A. Attend all on-line class sessions. It is important. Participating in discussions and sharing ideas, asking questions just like you did when you were in the classroom tells teachers that you are understanding and thinking about class-work. Instructions can be clarified and when you ask a question, you will receive an answer right then and there!

B. Submit all your assignments. This will keep your grade strong and help your teacher understand how you are learning. This feedback helps teachers fine-tune future lessons and assignments.

C. Respond to your teachers’ emails. They are emailing you because they need information from you. Answer their questions so that they can work with you better.

You have done a great job transitioning to e-learning. Remember that staying connected is the link to e-learning success. Just like Res, it is a sure thing.

Following guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Public Health, and the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools, the Resurrection College Prep school building was closed and all events were canceled starting on Friday, March 13, 2020. The Resurrection College Prep response to the COVID-19 outbreak can be found HERE. Based on the rapidly evolving health concerns due to the ongoing coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, we have taken proactive steps were taken move to an e-learning platform starting Monday, March 16, 2020.

April 22, 2020 - Senior Events Update

College Decision Day
We can appreciate how the pandemic may be altering or delaying college decisions. Typically, senior college decisions are recognized on May 1, but some colleges have moved their college decisions to June 1. We are still requesting information from seniors regarding college decisions and scholarships awarded, both internal scholarships from colleges and external scholarships. We will look forward to celebrating the future plans of our seniors and their academic achievements.

Seniors, please complete the Senior Survey and send your photo to Ms. Rogers by this Friday, April 24, 2020.

Senior Prom
Senior Prom was originally scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2020, and has been postponed. There are several challenges to rescheduling, due to anticipated social distancing restrictions and the availability of venues. If we are able to gather as a group, the Senior Class Moderator and Class Officers will meet to review options for the summer. However, we need to hear from the members of the Class of 2020!

Seniors, please provide feedback by May 1 to Dr. Piwowarki (rpiwowarski@reshs.org) and Ms. Salerno (jsalerno@reshs.org) regarding what you would hope to see in terms of an alternative to prom.

Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation
Graduation was originally scheduled for May 28, 2020, and we do not anticipate that large groups will be allowed to gather at that time, therefore, we have made reservations with Holy Name Cathedral for Graduation on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

Adjustments may be needed as new information is disseminated by state government health officials. Based on the hope that large gatherings will be allowed, and the unavailability of campus access in the summer due to construction efforts, events are currently scheduled and would be as follows:

Honors Convocation Liturgy - Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at St. John Brebeuf
Parents and graduates will join the school to celebrate the members of the Class of 2020 earning specific academic and athletic recognition. The event is scheduled to take place at St. John Brebeuf at 5:30 pm.

Graduation Rehearsal - Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Notre Dame College Prep High School
Graduation practice is scheduled to take place at 5:30 pm at Notre Dame College Prep High School. Graduation practice is expected to take an hour and a half to 2 hours and it is important for all participants to arrive on time. Caps, gowns and graduation tickets will be distributed at this time.

Graduation - Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Holy Name Cathedral
Graduation is scheduled to begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Seniors will need to arrive at Holy Name Cathedral at 5:45 pm. At this point, and subject to social distancing guidelines, each graduate would be issued up to six (6) tickets to invite friends and relatives.

In the unfortunate scenario that social distancing is extended indefinitely and no large gatherings are permitted, we are exploring various options, including the possibility of hosting a combined Honors Convocation and Commencement/Graduation the week of Thanksgiving 2020. We hope that this would not be the case and we are open to alternate ideas from students and families of the Class of 2020.

Diplomas
Student transcripts will be dated June 5, 2020, and will indicate “graduated.” Diplomas will be given to students at the Graduation Ceremony scheduled for July 16, 2020. Students who are unable to attend will have their diplomas mailed to their primary residence. Seniors, continue to stay engaged with your online classes and finish strong while being a model for the rest of the student body.

April 21, 2020 Update - Grades, Exams & Assessments

Grades
While we continue to hold our students accountable to the standards and expectations, albeit modified, as expected before the e-learning transition, we certainly understand the flexibility this situation requires. We ask that parents, students and faculty continue to demonstrate flexibility as we continue to utilize our new learning environment and at-home situations. Please know that we are continuing to support our students’ ability to successfully learn in this environment while also providing our faculty with ongoing professional development to support our students. Expectations have been shared via various communications and a summary can be found HERE. As always, grades can be viewed via Parent Connect.

If you have questions or concerns about how your daughter is assessed/graded in a course, or in the type and amount of work and instruction, please contact the course instructor directly. Our faculty are open to feedback and input and are committed to partnering with you in this process!

With that being said, please know that, administratively, we have been continually evaluating the quantity and quality of our curriculum via student surveys, daily check-ins with faculty, student check-ins via student services, and conference calls. We know that these are unprecedented times and we are most appreciative of both feedback and patience as we navigate this experience.

Final Exams
In response to the times, and following what we believe to be in the best interest of our students, we will not have final exams for the Spring 2020 semester. Student final grades will be determined, thus, by work submitted and evaluated within the semester.

AP Exams
AP Exams are still taking place and will be given remotely based on the schedule set by the College Board (May 11-22). Specific details will be communicated with students who are currently taking AP Courses.

April 17, 2020 UPDATE - E-Learning Extended

E-Learning Extended Through End of Semester

As you may know, the Governor of Illinois has made the decision to end in-person learning for all schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We continue to pray for the health and safety of your families and the Resurrection College Prep High School campus will remain closed and all activities, including athletics, continue to be canceled until further notice. We have been preparing for the possibility of remote learning for the remainder of the school year and we are proud of the high quality of instruction that our students are receiving. With flexibility and sensitivity, we will continue to hold our students to high standards. Details will be communicated next week regarding e-learning and assessments for the remainder of the school year.

Plans are underway to celebrate important milestone events in the lives of our students. Over the past month, we have been exploring ways that events may be rescheduled or celebrated in new ways in order to comply with local health requirements while honoring the achievements of our students. We will keep you posted as we have more information.

We are extremely proud of our teachers and students as they have navigated the recent changes. Members of our community have been positive, effective and resourceful during this pandemic by responding to the needs of our students.

April 3, 2020 Update - Schedules & Expectations

E-Learning Extended to April 30, 2020 & E-Learning Updates

The health and well-being of Resurrection students, faculty, and staff are of the utmost importance to us. We continue to follow the news regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak as well as the guidance provided to schools by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). During these uncertain times, we pray for the health and safety of your families.

The Resurrection College Prep High School campus remains closed until further notice. As previously communicated, e-learning days will continue through Thursday, April 30, 2020. All activities and events, including athletic practices and games, also continue to be canceled through Thursday, April 30, 2020, and/or until further notice.

We strongly encourage all students to remain at home and practice responsible social distancing, and we hold in prayer all of the members of our community who are working on the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis. Teachers and students are doing an amazing job transitioning to e-learning. We have been so impressed by the creativity and flexibility that has been demonstrated as we transitioned to this platform and navigate in this crisis environment. April 2020 E-Learning Updates Classes will continue to utilize the daily e-learning schedule HERE with the two modifications, mentioned in detail below, based upon feedback from students and faculty.

We will continue to follow all logistic processes (i.e. attendance, Schoology pages, etc.) currently in use. The schedule for April 2020 E-Learning is available HERE.

Pink Day Student/Teacher Check-in Days: On Pink Days (Wednesdays 4/22 and 4/29) one-on-one meetings may be scheduled between students and teachers. During these days, students must be available to meet with faculty via ZOOM or their Schoology Backchannel Chats/Conferences during the time their class is scheduled to meet (which is the same time as previously communicated). Please note that Wednesday 4/15 is not a Pink Day and will follow a White Day schedule. Teachers will not provide additional work to be done on these days.

7th Period:
7th period* will meet on select days, including 4/6, 4/14, 4/16, 4/20. 4/21, 4/24, 4/27, 4/28, 5/1 General Daily

Expectations
As we continue utilizing our e-learning system, we want to stress the following items as a means to make certain all of our stakeholders are aware of expectations.
1. During e-learning, students should be engaged in specific learning activities each day, including assignments, live sessions, group work, or assessments. Pink Days will be utilized for one-on-one student/teacher check-ins.
2. Faculty will use Pink Days to do class check-ins with students. Students must be available during Pink Days to communicate with their teachers.
3. Teachers may need students to be available to connect via Zoom, or Schoology, during the time of the scheduled class on Red/White days. If this is the case, faculty will notify students 24 hours in advance.
4. E-learning platforms continue to adjust to the rapid increase in online and streaming traffic. In the event that Schoology is down or is suffering performance issues, which will happen from time to time, faculty will use one of the many other resources at their disposal (i.e. email, google drive, etc.). If faculty decide to shift the learning plan to another platform, they will EMAIL students to notify them as such.
5. Students are expected to submit their workload document to their seminar teachers each day by 9:05 a.m. These submissions are used to document attendance. If students encounter difficulty in Schoology, students may submit the answers to the workload document through an email to their seminar teachers.
6. If any circumstances prevent a student from attending sessions with her teachers or completing the workload document or assignments on any given day, the student’s parent should email elearning@reshs.org to notify us and verify their daughter’s absence.

Looking Forward
As a school community, we are committed to the educational, social and emotional needs of our students and we are working to ensure that student social events or other milestone events are celebrated in some way. We are exploring how events may be rescheduled or celebrated in other ways and will keep you posted as we have more information.

Student Events
As communicated earlier this week, we are postponing the Junior Prom until a later date. Dr. P will work with Ms. Montanille and the Junior class officers to establish a new date, most likely summer or fall, for the event to take place. We are still uncertain about Senior Prom, Honors Convocation, and Graduation. We will have a decision on Prom in the coming week, as we are still working with our venue. Graduation and the Honors Convocation will take place, but the date, time, and location may change. We hope to have a more definitive idea of the logistics within the coming weeks.

Athletics
As noted, athletic practices, games and events also continue to be canceled through April 30, 2020, and/or until further notice. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has issued a statement stating that if and when spring sports return there will be a "practice only" period before competitive events resume. The IHSA does not know how long that practice only period would be. Also, if and when athletics resume, the IHSA is looking at possibly pushing back state tournaments to allow for a longer season. However, at this point, the IHSA is unable to guarantee anything in terms of the spring season. See updates from IHSA HERE.

Summer Athletic Camps
Unfortunately, the decision has been made to cancel Summer Athletic Camps for current students and incoming freshmen. Summer leagues for current Resurrection teams may still occur and information will be shared if and when details become available from facilities that typically host summer leagues. Athletic camps for girls in grades 5 to 8 are being rescheduled for the fall. Details will be shared when they are finalized.

E-Learning Days Overview

Resurrection College Prep High School has approved the use of e-learning days on days when campus is closed due to inclement weather or other emergency conditions. During e-learning days, students will complete assigned coursework from home.

Background
By law, the school may use up to five e-learning days per school year, and those count as official attendance days. Resurrection’s calendar provides for more instructional minutes than state law requires. For this reason, Resurrection has the option to cancel school without the need to necessarily reschedule the canceled school day or conduct an e-learning day.

How E-Learning Days Work
Here is how e-learning days would work in a typical scenario in which dangerous weather conditions or some other emergency are expected to force the closure of campus:

Resurrection teachers will use our learning management system, Schoology, in conjunction with G Suite and third-party tools to support our e-learning days. Parents/guardians, if you are unfamiliar with Schoology, please visit our Schoology Parents web page. The page also contains information on signing up for a Schoology parent account, if you have not already done so.
We will follow a modified version of our current Red/White day block schedule during e-learning days during the week of March 16-20, 2020 and the week of March 30-April 4, 2020. See the schedule HERE.
Each morning, teachers will be required to post lesson plans to their class Schoology page by 8:20 am. For longer duration e-learning situations, teachers may post the week’s content and tasks in advance for student access. Students should be ready to log-in to Schoology by 8:20 to review each scheduled classes’ lesson plans.
Each morning, students will find an organizational workload assignment via Schoology (from their seminar class). From 8:20 - 9:05, students are required to review the day's learning tasks, complete the workload assignment that identifies the learning and work they expect to complete, and then submit it through Schoology. The submission of this document is what will be utilized for attendance purposes.
Teachers will be online and available for instructional support during the times when they would normally be accessible. For example, if your daughter has Algebra I during 1st period, her teacher will be accessible for support during this time. Teachers will be available for contact throughout the scheduled school day but are only available to give direct and immediate support during the scheduled class time. Similarly, the Rankin Support staff and school counselors will be available throughout the scheduled school day and specifically from 2:30 - 3:00 pm each day to support any students in the program or in need of support.

Teachers will inform students of the various ways they may be available. These ways may include the Conference function in Schoology, Google Hangouts, discussion boards, Backchannel chats and/or email. Other forms of communication may also be used and all forms of communication between teachers and students will be through school-approved methods.

Unless specifically stated by a teacher, there is no set time when students must access and complete assignments during the e-learning day; for example, if a student has Algebra I during 1st period, the student will not be required to access and complete the materials or work during that specific time, but the teacher will be online and available for instructional support during the times when they would normally be accessible. A teacher may require students to meet and complete work during a scheduled period, but the teacher is required to give students two days’ notice about the required meeting.

Parents/guardians - If your student has a medical appointment or some other circumstance that will interfere with participation in their classes or the completion of required tasks/assignments, please send an email to the teacher and the following email address: elearning@reshs.org.

Please note, although Friday, March 20, 2020, was scheduled to be a non-attendance day for students, it will be an e-learning day. On Friday, March 20th, students should expect to log-in by 8:20 am and submit the day's workload assignment via Schoology by 9:05 am. Unless specifically stated by a teacher, there is no set time when students must access and complete assignments during the e-learning day.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

In advance of an e-learning day, teachers will have informed students of their process for e-learning day assignments.
During the e-learning day, students will access and complete assignments that are meaningful and continue to advance them through the curriculum. There will be a task, assignment, or both, given in every class that will take students approximately 50 minutes to complete.
As with any assignment, students will know the goal of the lesson, what resources will be needed to complete the lesson, how they will submit the work, and how it will be assessed.
Assignments may be any combination of learning tasks (instruction, reading, researching, writing, etc.), and will not necessarily be technology-based.
Unless specifically stated by a teacher, there is no set time when students must access and complete assignments during the e-learning day; for example, if a student has math class during 3rd period, they will not be required to access and complete the materials or work during that specific time. A teacher may require students to meet and complete work during a scheduled period, but the teacher is required to give students two days’ notice about the required meeting.
Teachers will make appropriate e-learning day assignments and due dates. When deciding on due dates, teachers will consider the possibility of students losing the ability to complete the work, given the nature of an emergency closing.
