IL State Scholars - Class of 2021

9 young women and TEXT: Congratulations Class of 2021 Illinois State Scholars

Resurrection College Prep High School is pleased to announce the members of the Resurrection Class of 2021 who have been named Illinois State Scholars in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement.

After a months-long delay because of the COVID-19 pandemic, qualified Illinois high school students were designated as 2021-22 State Scholars by the Illinois State Assistance Commission (ISAC) on April 12, 2021, with a congratulatory letter by ISAC, which included and a digital Illinois State Scholar badge.

The students who were honored for their academic achievements as Illinois State Scholars include the following Resurrection seniors: Casey Brannigan, Mary Carr, Kayla Dorgan, Bailey Finley, Caroline Gawronski, Juliana Gisler, Lauren Lessner, Mary Grace Murphy and Kayla Villaraza.  Rankings are based on a combination of ACT/SAT test scores and GPA at the end of junior year.

The State Scholar Program recognizes students attending approved high schools for outstanding academic achievement. State scholar designation provides honorary recognition with no monetary award and there is no application to complete for the State Scholar Program; standardized test scores and performance-based academic data determines eligibility. High school counselors provide either the sixth-semester class rank or the unweighted GPA of each student. Approximately the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year and these students perform in the top one-half of their high school classes at the end of the junior year of high school, and/or score at or above the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT.  Additional information about Illinois State Scholars can be found here
